Our Kennett Square Vet Clinic is Growing!
Although 2020 has been a difficult year for all of us, there are some bright spots to note and news from our local vet clinic. For instance, there have been some wonderful additions to our Longwood family that have reminded us our future is still full of hope and promise.
Dr. Siegfried and nurse Alisa both welcomed baby girls to their respective families earlier this year. The compassion they have shown their patients has made the transition to motherhood an easy and welcome one.
Good Things in 2020
Our vet clinic has been busier than ever, as you well know if you have paid a recent visit to our hospital. We have hired additional staff to meet the increased demand for quality and compassionate veterinary medical care within our practice area. Many of you have already had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Danika Sorensen, who joined our Longwood family in January 2020.
Dr. Sorensen graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. After graduation she completed a one year small animal medical and surgical internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus NJ. She went on to practice emergency veterinary medicine at well-respected practices in Florida and Delaware. She has a particular interest in emergency medicine, specifically in cases involving toxicology, but finds she enjoys the lasting relationships she’s forming with clients and patients as at our primary care practice. Dr. Sorensen is currently pursuing a certification in both small- and large-animal medical acupuncture. When she is not immersed in her work or studies, Dr. Sorensen rides horses, enjoys the ocean, and can often be found hanging out with her dog, Raymond.
Over the summer we welcomed a large group of aspiring pre-veterinary students to our vet clinic, including several members of Dr. Strine’s family! These students helped answer phones and assist doctors and nurses during patient visits. In fact, you likely interacted with many of them by phone and during curbside drop offs, and we’ve very much so appreciated their contribution here.
We have also hired two new full-time nurses, Morgan and Katherine. Morgan is a 2019 graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in pre-Veterinary Medicine. She has been working as a veterinary nurse for the past three years. Morgan particularly enjoys the opportunity to work with us using our fear-free handling techniques. She loves the spirit of camaraderie shared at our hospital. When not at LVC, Morgan loves to spend her free time watching football with her recently rescued Great Dane, Moose. He has many medical issues, but is currently thriving under her devoted care.
Katherine has been working as a veterinary assistant since she was 16 years old. She graduated from Harcum College in 2019, and obtained her official certification of veterinary technician in 2020. Katherine has a soft spot in her heart for senior pets, and enjoys geriatric medicine, especially as it pertains to improving quality of life for older animals. When not at LVC, Katherine enjoys riding, and was once competitive on the American Paint Horse Association show circuit.
We are very lucky to have Dr. Sorensen, Morgan, and Katherine and look forward to many years together. We can’t wait for you to get to know these new staff members better, and for them to help provide excellent care for your pets at our Kennett Square pet clinic.
